Foreign Direct Investment
Thirty Years of Foreign Direct Investment
From Southeast Asia to Switzerland — and from adviser to originator. FintechLex structures, negotiates and supports cross-border investments where legal, regulatory and commercial execution must work together.
Discuss an FDI ProjectExperience before theory
Cross-border investment is not a filing exercise
A legal structure may be technically valid and still fail commercially. Successful FDI requires the right partners, a workable regulatory route, disciplined due diligence and continuous control of execution. Our experience began in Thailand in 1995 and expanded through Myanmar, Cambodia, Hong Kong and Singapore before extending to Geneva, Switzerland and wider European markets.
Thailand
Investment promotion and BOI projects involving manufacturing, software, food production and other operating businesses; real-estate and condominium projects; infrastructure assignments including dams, railway and Bangkok metro-related work; telecommunications, hospitality and the rollout of an Orange mobile tower-leasing programme. An independent practice was established in 2002.
Myanmar & Cambodia
Telecommunications and VoIP licensing, work connected with an early private ISP and the development and operation of a winery in Myanmar. In Cambodia, assignments included a telecommunications business from establishment through sale, casino licensing and a professional lecture delivered to the National Petroleum Authority.
Hong Kong & Singapore
Property investment, financial licensing and the practical bridge between Asian opportunities and European capital, governance and counterparties. These markets reinforced a central lesson: jurisdictional knowledge matters, but execution across cultures matters just as much.
Switzerland & Europe
Regulated financial structures and transactions involving FINMA and SRO environments, banking, EMI and payment institutions, brokerage, asset management, AML and compliance. FintechLex has also acted as external counsel to an Asian foreign-exchange group.

What thirty years in the room teaches you
From adviser to originator
Building investable projects, not only advising them
FintechLex’s FDI experience now also supports project origination through Venture Capital Studio. The objective is to transform practical operating concepts into structured, documented and investable opportunities while keeping project risk understandable.
This approach combines legal and regulatory analysis with commercial design, investor readiness, transaction structure and implementation discipline.
The 3S Venture System
Smaller. Smarter. Safer.
A disciplined framework for developing projects that are easier to understand, finance, manage and replicate. Thai Wok & Go is the first operating concept developed under this approach.
